Making a decision to pursue therapy for your child is not always an easy one.  Often times parents think they should be able to handle the issue their child is facing on their own.  We at NCCCS understand the many issues that come along with childhood and parenting.  We consider it an honor to be able to partner with parents in helping their child.

Therapy provides children the opportunity to identify, discuss, and understand problems and to develop effective coping skills. Therapy also provides the opportunity to address parental concerns and to provide parents with support and education regarding their child's unique needs.

Situations and signs that your child may benefit from therapy:

• Your child has experienced the loss of a parent or other close relative, friend, or classmate
• Your child has recently become separated from one or both parents
• Your child has experienced trauma (sexual, witnessing violence, etc.)
• Your child demonstrates inappropriate behavior for his/her age
• Your child seems angry all or a lot of the time
• Your child is being bullied or is bullying others
• Your child has experienced a major shift in behavior (once outgoing, now very shy)
• Your child is verbally or physically abusive to other children or you
• Your child appears sad all or most of the time
• Your child is having consistent difficulty in school, or suddenly begins to experience difficulty in school
